Walcon Marine's wealth of experience in marina project management and our breadth of contacts in the industry means that the company is able to oversee the entire marina projects from start to finish if required.
The members of Walcon's experienced marina design team are able to combine their knowledge of traditional draughtsmanship with modern computer aided design techniques.
Walcon Marine's high-tech factory in southern Hampshire was the first purpose-built marina pontoon manufacturing facility in Europe and has a capacity to produce in excess of 350 linear metres of floating pontoon per week.
Marina Construction and Installation
Walcon Marine is able to offer its own directly employed experienced marina installation crews who travel all over the world, as and when required, to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
The company has all the necessary expertise and will organise both labour and plant to carry out complete marina construction projects including the provision and installation of timber or steel mooring piles, chain mooring systems and all associated civil engineering works.
The essential extra components required to complete a marina project can all be provided through Walcon. Services such as:
- the supply of water and power,
- emergency equipment and associated hardware such as emergency cabinets and ladders,
- cleats and bollards for mooring fixings,
- electrical modules and water outlets,
- pile caps, pile guides and access bridges.
Marina equipment is either manufactured by Walcon or sourced from recommended suppliers.
Pontoon access bridges are the focal point of any marina or berthing facility.
Walcon Marine manufactures a range of marina pontoon access bridges and yacht harbour access bridges of standard width and length. Live load steel or aluminium structured access bridges are available, although marina access ramps can be designed and built to customers' specific requirements. Shorter, steel ramps can be provided with galvanised finish, larger steel structured marina bridges will be painted.
Aluminium pontoon bridges are generally finished self-colour, although a decorative paint system can be applied if required.
Access bridges, gangways, walkways and ramps for both marinas and yacht harbours are generally decked using anti-slip hardwood decking, although alternative finishes are always available.
Larger access bridges feature warren truss side rail structures and can be fitted with mesh infill or vertical rail anti-climb panels.
Concrete floating pontoons and floating breakwater pontoons provide wave protection for inshore marinas and yacht harbours.
Walcon Marine Ltd is proud to represent in the UK, SF Marina from Gothenburg, Sweden, who specialise in the production of top quality, all concrete styrofoam commercial floating breakwater pontoon structures. SF Marina has been producing floating concrete breakwaters since 1984 and is specialist in the manufacture of pontoon breakwaters.
The floating breakwaters are usually moored with chains, sinkers and anchors. To date there have been no failures of these breakwater pontoons even in hurricane weather conditions.
Considerable wave research has been carried out over the last 20 years on the use of floating structures as wave breaks and breakwaters in sheltered locations such as estuaries and lagoons. The wakes of passing vessels and short period waves can still create unpleasant conditions in yacht harbours and marinas. Recent experience has shown that floating pontoon breakwaters are effective in attenuating waves in marginal sites.
Concrete floats and fibre concrete floats from Walcon Marine have a proven record of more than 35 years satisfactory service on floating docks and marinas.
This famous fibre concrete float is made of expanded polystyrene protected by glass reinforced concrete - it is tough, durable and virtually maintenance free.
The fibre concrete floats have the following design features:
- Virtually maintenance free
- No corrosion
- No electrolytic action
- Stainless steel fixings
- Polystyrene core
