About Us
History
Principal members of Pacific Pile & Marine (PPM) previously controlled Hurlen Construction Company (Hurlen). Hurlen was originally founded in 1969 as a family-owned business focusing on small marine and foundation projects until 1995. From 1995 to 2002, Hurlen expanded into geographically diverse markets including British Columbia and Alaska.
In 2002, Hurlen was acquired by Colorado-based construction firm American Civil Constructors. In 2006, the principals sold their majority shares and left the company. In 2008, original partners Wil Clark, Eric Reichelt, and Chris Willis, along with key personnel, came together and re-established their presence as a premier west coast marine contractor. That company is known today as Pacific Pile & Marine and is supported by over 100 years of combined management experience.
Who We Are
Pacific Pile & Marine (PPM) is a heavy civil and marine contractor specializing in complex construction, especially in remote locations. Our team has experience in alternate delivery and is sufficiently resourced to deliver a wide range of construction services.
Our team is supported by an experienced group of construction professionals and a specialized fleet of equipment including barges, cranes, shallow- and deep-water dredge rigs, and a variety of pile driving and drilling gear. Our Seattle office offers a marine load-out facility and waterfront moorage.
PPM’s portfolio includes various foundation works and marine structures such as docks/piers/wharves, cofferdams, breakwaters, and dredging. Other specialty services include design-build, emergency response, and environmental remediation.
With offices in Seattle, WA and Anchorage, AK, we are positioned to serve Clients throughout the Pacific Northwest, Montana, Alaska, Canada, and Mexico.
Why PPM
PPM was created with the purpose to safely deliver turn-key construction solutions to complex projects across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Our Team goes well-beyond delivering projects on-time and within budget. We bring added value to the process by focusing on three key principles:
- Safety
- Quality
- Innovation
We’re constantly exploring ideas to lower cost and increase efficiencies without affecting safety or quality. We empower our crews to think creatively. A common phrase around the office is “the impossible just takes a little longer”.
From preconstruction to final development, our team will work in a collaborative manner to understand the unique needs for your project. Our partnering process ensures a clear vision from the earliest stages of the project. Having this understanding allows us to ask the right questions to help you make the right decisions for your project.
