For more than 40 years, J.E. McAmis has developed creative and innovative methods to successfully complete a wide variety of projects in challenging conditions and harsh environments for some of the most demanding clients in the United States.
J.E. McAmis’ project experience includes a variety of both large and small contracts covering work scopes such as: pile driving, dock construction, dredging, marine concrete works, drilling and blasting, jetty and breakwater construction, dam and spillway maintenance and construction, excavation, levee stabilization and construction, shoreline stabilization, environmental restoration, cofferdam installation, dewatering, slurry wall and relief trench construction, slope protection, ordnance screening and disposal, sand capping, Superfund clean-up, and oil and gas industry support.
J.E. McAmis was founded in California in 1973 and is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, HUBZone business.
It currently maintains corporate offices in Chico, California (since 1973) and satellite offices and marine yards on both coasts; one on the Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon (since 1980) another on the St. Lucie Waterway in Stuart, Florida (since 2003) and one in Longview, Washington (since 2015).
While many factors have contributed to the success of J.E. McAmis over the years, the key factor separating JEM from its competition are its people. JEM maintains a staff of experienced, professional and hard-working individuals. JEM supervisors and craft employees hold a variety of certifications including, but not limited to: AWS D1.1 Welding, National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators, CPR and First-Aid, 30-hour OSHA, Army Corps of Engineers Contractor Quality Control (CQC), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), and Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (SECEL).
In addition, outstanding safety, environmental, on-time performance, and partnering records have helped J.E. McAmis maintain positive long-term relationships with our clients, subcontractors, permitting agencies, and the community. In addition to a consistent record of receiving outstanding performance evaluations from our clients, in recent years JEM has received two prestigious awards from the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) which covers the entire Western Hemisphere. In 2011, J.E. McAmis was recognized with WEDA’s Annual Safety Award as well as the Environmental Excellence Award for the execution of the $56M Columbia River Channel Improvements Project which J.E.
