Bored piles are the most versatile and used technology in deep foundations around the world.
Why? Because drilling diameters do not have limits, no permanent - and expensive - steel casing is required. Bored piles can be installed through layers of solid rock and other debris with no vibration and very little noise. Plus, depths can reach more than 80 metres, making them suitable for almost any job.

Continuous flight auger piles combine the advantages of driven piles with the versatility of bored piles. This drilling method allows piles to be excavated in a wide variety of soils - dry or water-logged, loose or cohesive - and also to penetrate through low-capacity, soft-rock formations, loamy clays, limestones and sandstone, etc.
No shocks or vibrations are induced when this method is performed. This, combined with modern sound-proofed drilling equipment, makes CFA the most convenient piling method for construction in town centres.
The execution of the pile without decompression of the soil permits us to work close to existing structures. With this in mind it is much easier to install piles in collapsing soils with no need for casings or drilling slurry.
The soil brought up to the surface is reduced by as much as 50 per cent compared to bored pile excavations. This is due to the auger displacing and compacting the soils as it advances. The result is less excavated material that has to be transported to a disposal site.
The range of diameters (from 40cm to 140cm) and depths (from 25m to 33m) makes it possible to overcome problems connected to the project and execution of the pilings.
There are many benefits to secant pile walls, including increased construction alignment flexibility, increased wall stiffness compared to sheet piles, the fact they can be installed in difficult ground (cobbles/boulders), and they can be used in high water table conditions with little dewatering.
Applications for secant pile walls include shoring, large diameter access shafts, large storage tanks, etc.
The walls are formed by constructing intersecting reinforced concrete piles. The piles are reinforced with either steel rebar or steel beams and are constructed by drilling open hole, slurry drilling, continuous flight auger drilling, or using the temporary cased secant pile method.
Primary piles are installed first with secondary piles constructed in between the primary piles once the latter gain sufficient strength. Pile overlap is usually three inches.
Henry Drilling has the capacity to do soil improvement for shoring, break-out blocks and ground stiffening. We can accomplish this by soil mixing with augers and high-pressure grout pumps, CSM walls using our large Bauer drills, or even soil replacement where we remove contaminants or poor quality soils and replace with low-strength concrete.
