Heavy Civil / Infrastructure

Cashman builds infrastructure that is vital to the economic development of communities around the United States and beyond. Our engineers and operators build quality structures and integrate them into the surrounding environment. We ensure our clients are able to make the most informed and beneficial decisions possible by working closely with owners and engineers during pre-construction phases. Working across a wide range of markets, we ensure client goals and community needs are met. The firm specializes in the building and demolition of numerous land- and water-based structures including:

  • Bridges / Tunnels
  • Roadways
  • Railways
  • Industrial Facilities
  • Piers
  • Bulkheads
  • Flood Control
  • Stone Structures

We combine years of experience with the considerable resources of The Cashman Companies to complete complex projects. We use a collaborative approach on our projects with the goal of maximizing returns for clients, who include federal, military and public agencies, private developers, and general contractors. Cashman also owns and maintains a fleet of specialized equipment including excavators, cranes, dredges, scows, barges, tugs, and other heavy equipment so that we can achieve results quickly, and in any environment. Our comprehensive project plans are designed to achieve client goals, minimize disruption, comply with environmental regulations, and—most importantly—ensure that everyone involved at our work sites goes home safe each day.

Marine Construction

Cashman’s water- and land-based solutions strengthen the country’s infrastructure through well-built ports, bridges, and tunnels. Having successfully completed several major complex and challenging marine construction projects, the firm has earned a reputation for safety, excellence and quality.

Whether building piers, revetments, stone structures, or bridges, we apply our marine construction expertise to deliver state-of-the-art solutions. Through our affiliate company, Sterling Equipment, we own and maintain our own fleet of specialized equipment, including dredges, scows, barges, tugs, cranes, and other heavy equipment. This combination of capabilities and resources allows us to act as a single-source provider on complex marine construction projects that would otherwise require multiple subcontractors. This approach reduces our risk as well as that for Owners and Clients.

Recent marine construction work includes the structural repairs to Pier 1 to provide a safe mooring for the USS Constitution at the Charlestown Navy Shipyard in Boston; the land reclamation project at the site of the 2017 America’s Cup in Bermuda; the Marine Commerce Terminal in New Bedford, Massachusetts; or the reconstruction of a major pier in Sunny Point, NC for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Success on large-scale projects such as these has come as a result of expertise, dedication, safe work practices, and efficient execution.

Dredging

Cashman Dredging has undertaken some of the largest dredging projects in U.S. history. Our crews have moved millions of cubic yards of dredge material, sand, glacial till, clay, and rock, and are experts at processing toxin-impacted or contaminated materials using environmentally safe practices. Providing an array of integrated solutions ranging from environmental and navigational dredging to pond and industrial dredging, Cashman Dredging has earned a reputation for precision and quality. Cashman offers Owners minimal risk to execute their projects safely, on schedule, accurately, and at a predictable cost. Our experience includes working on heavily trafficked waterways, including on riverine and open-water environments. Channels are kept deep and wide enough through dredging for safe movement of ships from deep ocean waters to numerous East/Gulf Coast deep-water harbors.

Utilizing sound engineering and advancing the latest technologies, Cashman executes dredging and restoration projects across a broad range of services. We not only implement the dredging work, we also apply our extensive regulatory experience to help Clients navigate the often complex permit approval processes. Cashman supports the efforts of Clients like the Corps of Engineers at navigation channels and of Port Authorities and the Navy at harbors, and has experience in different kinds of dredging, as well as with the materials removed that differ in consistency and placement options.

Cashman's depth of experience—coupled with our vast fleet of equipment—makes us uniquely qualified to tackle our clients' most demanding dredging and environmental projects. And our history of on-time completions and excellent safety record are benchmarks of Cashman customer satisfaction.

Cashman recognizes its responsibility to improve the communities in which we work, whether projects are performed close to home or in the international market. That is why upholding our values of safety, integrity, accountability, and environmental conservation is paramount at each of our work sites. Our talented crews are implementing sustainable solutions through technology, innovation, and experience to meet all our Clients' dredging needs.

Environmental

With changes in global conditions, the country’s coastal regions face natural environmental threats from flooding and storm surges, as well as sediment deposits in our navigational channels. Cashman’s environmental and remediation work focuses on natural environmental issues, as well as pollution caused by marine-based or waterfront industrial use.

Because of our experience and techniques, Cashman offers Owners minimal risk to execute their sediment remediation projects safely, on schedule, accurately, and at a predictable cost. Our experience includes remediating PCBs in environments where concentrations exceed 100 ppm, heavy metals, dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs), and other hazardous materials/chemicals. Our crews work on heavily trafficked waterways, including on riverine and open-water environments.
